DeskRest FAQ
The short answers to what people ask most about DeskRest — from safety and pricing to how it compares with other break reminder apps. Every answer links to a deeper page when you want the full picture, and the facts here track the official product (version1.19.1, checked July 2026).
What is DeskRest?
DeskRest is a smart break and posture reminder app for macOS 14.2 and later. It schedules 20-second eye breaks and 3-minute movement breaks, detects calls and Focus sessions so reminders wait their turn, and tracks your streaks. See the full feature tour.
Is DeskRest safe to install?
Yes — it's distributed through the Mac App Store (where builds pass Apple's review) and the developer's public GitHub release channel, the developer is publicly identified in Germany, and per the official privacy explainer all detection happens on your Mac. Full breakdown: Is DeskRest safe?
How is it different from other break timer apps?
Three things: it's native to modern macOS rather than a cross-platform wrapper; it detects video calls, meetings and Focus modes so breaks wait their turn instead of firing mid-call; and the licenses here are one-time purchases with lifetime updates. The developer also ships updates every few weeks — ten releases landed between December 2025 and May 2026.
Is there a Windows or iPhone version?
Not today — DeskRest is macOS-only (14.2+). The developer's official FAQ does list Windows and other platforms as planned expansions based on user demand, but nothing has shipped yet. Details: Is DeskRest available for Windows?
How much does it cost?
Lifetime licenses run $24.99 (1 Mac), $39.99 (2 Macs), $74.99 (5 Macs) — one payment each, nothing renews — and a 7-day free trial (no credit card) comes first. The official code WELCOME40 currently takes 40% off every plan. Full details on the pricing page.
How do I activate my license?
Buy a license, then enter the key in the app's settings — the official license activation guide walks through it step by step. New to the app entirely? Start with our 5-minute setup guide.
Which macOS versions are supported?
DeskRest requires macOS 14.2 or later on both distribution channels. It runs from the menu bar rather than the Dock, and its call-detection and Focus integrations lean on modern macOS system features. Install details are on the download page.
What's the latest version?
Version 1.19.1, released May 7, 2026. The app updates every few weeks — the DeskRest version history lists every release with sources.
