DeskRest is a smart break and posture reminder for macOS, built by independent developer Marcel Hagmann in Germany. The project has an unusually honest origin: the developer's back gave out from desk work, and the app is the fix he built for himself — a story told first-hand on r/apple.

Milestones

September 2025 — DeskRest launches on the Mac App Store after a pre-order period.
December 2025 – May 2026 — ten releases in under five months: Focus Filters, break lock screen, per-day working hours, video-detection whitelisting.
Today — v1.19.1 on macOS 14.2+, in English and German.
