Worth noting against the subscription tools in this category: at $14.99 with the code, the 1-Mac license costs about what two months of a typical $6.99/month wellness subscription would — except it never renews, and the ten releases shipped between December 2025 and May 2026 all arrived free under the same lifetime-updates promise.

Is DeskRest free?
No, but every install starts with a 7-day free trial of all features — no credit card, and it ends on its own. After that, the direct .dmg version activates with a lifetime license key from the store above, and the Mac App Store version unlocks via in-app purchase.
Is there a student discount?
We haven't seen a student-specific program — but the official code WELCOME40 gives everyone 40% off, which brings the 1-Mac lifetime license down to $14.99. That's the lowest official price we know of.
Is it a subscription?
The plans on this page aren't — each is a single payment with lifetime updates, and nothing renews. (The developer's docs also mention an annual subscription option through official channels if you'd rather start small; the lifetime licenses here skip recurring billing entirely.) The cancellation page on the official site covers the EU right of withdrawal.
What about refunds?
